new fencing next door

The Post Office next door had new fencing put up.  Quite apart from the fact that I'm not keen on close board fencing [I've taken nearly all mine out and replaced it with hedging] I'm rather upset at having lost more than half my hedge this side - I bet the birds are even more so now it's getting near to nesting time.

[The pile of "stuff" at the corner
is waiting for the next skip.]

This is what it used to look like in early May:

We've had many frosty nights recently and no rain for a week, so the ground has dried out a bit and I was able to start clearing beds of weeds.  You probably can't tell from these two photos, but the cornelian cherry this side of the bush of variegated laurel is flowering!

This squirrel entertained me this morning over breakfast.  It must have had well over a dozen peanuts, hard to tell where it put them all - although, when I recently scooped up some mole hills in the orchard I found a cache of peanuts in one of them ...

My little seedlings in the sun lounge are coming on well:
