after the first week of preparation for render

I've been delighted with how well Mark from Heritage Protective Coatings worked all week, a conscientious and steady worker who only needed a fairly steady supply of cups of coffee with 2 sugars!  He was extremely helpful moving my heavy plant pots and on Wednesday even managed - with the help of three neighbours! - to get me and the tractor mower pulled out of a "hole". The wheels were spinning uselessly in the soft ground and I'd let it slip right down to the stile .....

It took Mark quite a while to remove all the loose and flaking old paint from the walls, on the ground it looked like we'd had heavy snow or hail.  Then he spent several days making good the surfaces and on Friday leaving the house almost ready for the new render to be applied after covering what's not to be covered in render  -  I love the way he's wrapped the bird box at the back of the house!

Pictures below are from last Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

The roses I cut off before trimming the bushes right down last weekend are smelling sweetly every time I walk into the sunlounge, these two above are "Elfe", one of my many rose presents from Michael and Peanah.

The ducks off on an outing to the big pond on Wednesday.

Apart from Wednesday I didn't do any gardening last week, but I was very, very busy knitting and crocheting blanket squares for Syrian refugees in Kurdistan, I made 18.  Tomorrow they're going to be sent to one of the ladies who stitch them all together.
