A Happy Day in the Garden

We had sunshine until tea time when we went in, we got lots of weeding and tidying up done, we had duck company AND, Dotty surprised us by coming out of her enclosure TWICE!

This is a picture from yesterday, Billie-Jean kept going in and out of the hut
as if she was broody, but I'd taken all the eggs out.

Found another advantage to the presence of the ducks near the house, it's kept the pheasants at bay a bit - can you see those three in the middle distance?

I was weeding the patch of ground in front of the house, and was delighted to see that the red [and believed dead] clematis in the corner between the house wall and the porch was more than a foot high and showing lots of buds!

And then I had an even bigger surprise, there was Dotty rooting around just a few feet away:

She shared a drink with Winnie and then went back into her area, she does have trouble walking.  But just a little later John saw her again under the bird-food birch with a few others, well done the girl!

Honey has found herself a new favourite place, on top of a patch of day lilies next to the frog pond.  She was on there nearly all day, sometimes Purdy kept her company.

I've sorted the two ornamental quinces and put them against the newly painted fence, and John is arranging the honeysuckle on it with some wires - it'll look nice when they flower.
