catch-up, Saturday 15th and Sunday16th

On Saturday sunny afternoon I took a few more photos of the cheerful little aconites, the splendid pieris in the basket, a shot of the house showing how well the new build is blending in with the old, and the arrow in the fourth picture points to John's clearance work - he sawed out the dead and leaning branches of the lilac there and we can now get at the fence to paint it.

On Sunday afternoon, after our beef and Yorkshire pudding dinner, we went for a walk into the fields, were disappointed that the nature pond still isn't filling up [I have enquired if there are companies who do clay puddling of ponds, but have had no answer yet] but has patches of frog spawn in it, and pulled out a lot of tall grass out of the protective sleeves round the little trees planted a year ago - they're doing well, nearly all of them!

Arriving back at the house we could see the main group of ducks gathered at and in the frog pond.  Look at Honey "queening" it on her patch of day lilies:
