I inadvertently caused two upsets ....

..... last night when I put the duckies to bed, I'll tell you about it in a moment.  First, my apologies for a big gap in these blog diaries, I had lovely visitors, brother Gerd and Maria on their annual "early birthday" visit.  It was so nice seeing them, but I didn't get around to taking any photos - so will have to wait for Gerd to process his and send them to me [PLEASE, Gerd?]

Last night, having first shut the door on Captain, Anke and Candida's hut as usual, the other two dozen went ahead of me and stopped outside the duck shed.  They usually separate automatically into their groups of 13 and 11, but as I'd stood still for a few minutes while they were all picking up a few last grains the two lots were mixed up a bit when I clapped my hands for them to go in, and Bless found herself in the enclosure with the 11.   Because I'd been thinking for some time to put her with Captain's two girls [also because I was sure that she was the one making lots of noise even in the middle of the night - maybe because of her frequent fights with Beyoncé] I managed to grab her and carry her down to Captain's hut;  she was shouting all the way there and I could hear her long after I'd returned to the house!

When I watched the 11 going into their hut afterwards there was another one out of place: Georgie, who should have been in with the 13.  But no problem, he went in without argument.

This morning I made sure I had the camera with me, and although I didn't capture Bless coming out of the hut  I did get a lovely - if blurry - shot of Captain soaring to the skies:

Bless dived straight into the bowl of breakfast goodies with Anke, and that was the only time she stopped shouting for her group - I've not uploaded a little video yet of the noisy little madam.

PS later:

This was the last of the dozen or
so pheasants who fly off every
morning as I
approach.

Next I let out the mob from the shed, everything was fine [and it had been quiet in the night!], and lastly I opened the hatch to the hut with the young ones from this year.  Georgie came out quite undisturbed, but was first in line on the way to the big pond....

(The 5 young drakes, and maybe two more from last year, are
likely to go to son-in-law and daughter Andy and Julie soon to
be kept by them as a batchelor group.)

All reunited at the big pond Bless [white arrows above] was quiet again and Honey was making
a big fuss of Georgie - she obviously fancies him!

I've enlarged the 2 drakes preening in the small photo above, I think it looks great ......

... and this is Dotty getting most of her feathers back now:
