wet Monday

Our deluge of rain arrived yesterday lunchtime and has got worse today - as predicted.  Ducks and drakes came to the big puddle near the house this morning for a photo opportunity, they were having a schnozzling time:

I've been wrong again about this year's brood.  Having thought that the 4 dark coloured ducklings were all girls, 3 days ago I heard one of them, this feller,

make definite drake noises, and this morning I couldn't help but notice his drake tail curls.  So it's 5 drakes in this year's hatch, not four as I kidded myself  -  just as well that Jubilee turned out to be a girl!  By the way, it's interesting to note that these 5 drakes all have their tail curls whereas last year's boys haven't got theirs back yet.
