Unexpectedly wet Friday and sunny Saturday

We really hadn't expected wet weather on Friday, but it was truly awful, hardly stopped raining all day. So, instead of gardening we went shopping after the duck run, Country Store for all duck requirements and Tesco's for ours, and I was treated to Fish&Chips on the way home!    Late in the afternoon there was a break in the rain, I could refresh the duck huts and then tramp far into the fields to gather berries and flowers for the Harvest display at John's Church.  Coming back thoroughly soaked from my "field trip" I was delighted to see that the whole troupe of ducks and drakes were in and around the frog pond near our house:

Doesn't Jubilee look elegant, back right?

Yesterday morning we went to John's Chapel where some members were already bringing in baskets with fruit and vegetables for the Harvest display and I did a large arrangement on the pedestal.  It was rose hips, mainly, and little apples, there had been hardly any Damsons or sloes, a bad year for all fruit.

We had an early lunch [sweetcorn straight from the garden, the sweetest ever, yummmmm!] and in the long afternoon made use of the lovely weather - the last good day for some time, the weather forecasters say - and did lots of work in the garden.  The ducks were here there and everywhere, I snapped them when I saw them:

Anke, front, looks the worst of all in the moult, hope she soon gets back to normal!

Candy, the white one front left, looks as if she's smiling ...

The little tykes are running back across the patch of new grass - John will be mad if they've made tracks!

Then they were all back around the frog pond:
