Our little black rascal ...

..... broke out again this morning.  Coming out of the shower I could see from the window there was a rumpus going on at the big pond.  There should not have been a black duck among the 5 down there, but I could see a black bird entangled with a pale one and fighting like billyo - no, it wasn't one of the ducks he was on top of [although he might well have molested all 4 before I saw him], it was Captain he was tangling with.  By the time I was dressed and run downstairs I could see Jay-Z was back and running up and down the little separating fence near the garage, just like the pheasants do.  And then  -  he took a couple of steps backwards and FLEW over the fence!  So that's how he escapes, we had suspected it, now we'd seen it.  The fence will have to be higher!

Another thing that had broken out this morning was Spring, or so I thought.  By this afternoon I realized we were in SUMMER - it was too sunny and hot to stay in the sun room, so I went out and refreshed the bedding in the hut.

The trampled orange polyanthus top left in this picture are down to the troupe of 10, twice they broke my favourite colour down!

Big H, our big white drake, was out of favour today.  He was lying away from the others both morning and afternoon:

I took this photo shortly before ducky bedtime from the bathroom window, all 10 were busily looking for slugs and snails behind the house.
Both groups are shut in now, good night!
