I've fallen behind with my entries, let me see if I can catch up.

I last wrote on Tuesday when half the windows had been put in.  On Wednesday the job was completed and we have windows in the extension upstairs and down.

Wednesday afternoon I had a meeting with our Heritage Warden because I'd done a mock-up of the leaflet and Heritage Walk we're putting together for our village, this kind of thing:

We're now waiting for the map of the walk being finalized and then the leaflet can go to the printers.

On Thursday we had lovely visitors, Annie and the girls.  Charlotte had an interview at Loughborough University  [-  I heard yesterday that Charlie had been offered a place both at Bournemouth and at Loughborough, but she still likes Newcastle best ...... we'll see what decision she comes to].  We couldn't put them up overnight so they stayed in the hotel in Ashby where John and I had our wedding reception, so we only saw them Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.  Charlotte has another interview at De Montfort University in Leicester in May, so we're looking forward to seeing them again then when upstairs and downstairs of the new build can be christened!

By Friday night the builders had layed the underfloor heating cables and flooded the spaces between;  it's all ready now for the tiles to be laid on top.
The square gap you can see in the cabling at the top of the photo on the right is for the spiral staircase to be fixed.

Friday was also the day I saw the little Mallard drake again, for the first time in many days.  He was as self-assured as ever, not being bothered by BBD's feeble efforts to shoo him away, and waddled purposefully to the food trough.  The photo above shows him on the way back from there.

I took a whole series of shots of our ducks as they made their way one after the other, from the edge of the ditch via the blue water trough to get a quick drink, on to the food at the bottom of the frog pond and back again [mentionind the frog pond reminds me, I saw the first mating frogs in there on Friday]:

Had some more enjoyment when I saw our troupe head for the front garden yesterday.  Now, they hadn't been there in months, absolutely refused to go there when I tried to guide them there a few weeks ago.  It must have been the very first time for the new girls:

I found it funny on this photo how the new girls [arrowed] had bent down in exactly the same way to sort through the grass and moss.

Another thing that's quite obvious is that the front garden needs urgent attention, considering the amount of dead vegetation that should be cleared away - the cordyline under the spirals seems to be shooting up new leaves when I thought the severe winter had killed it.  But first I must get rid of this nasty cold that's laid me low since the middle of last week, couldn't really enjoy the social event and musical entertainment [Julie and Andy] at John's church last night....
