We had SUNSHINE yesterday, all day! We made sure we made the best of it because all weather forecasts had told us that today was going to be dull again - and they were right, it's cloudy and dark today; but let's just enjoy a few sunny photos from yesterday:

The mallard drake is still keeping company with them.

I had to laugh this morning when I was at the big pond filling the water buckets. All ducks and drakes were out of sight on the main garden path when Hedda suddenly shouted Alarm! and came running back to the water followed by all the others - but I only counted 12. Then Decibels came into view, and then .............. the little mallard came sailing over the laurel hedge and landed right in the middle of them! The surprising thing is that he's hardly ever pecked away by them, he seems to be accepted, follows them to the food container and pecks up what they've spilled.

I didn't catch him on this photo yesterday as they were all coming back from a feed:
This little picture is for my friend Pine because she loves Hedda especially:
Wow! White gables is beginning to look quite manorial, especially from the orchard vantage point, which has always been my favourite vista of your manor !! you must always have that feeling that someone is watching you in the garden and now you have proof your lovely ducky fan club. it's such a shame that the light was behind them they make a beautiful composition. On the other hand if you were frightened of ducks you could claim it was a Zulu moment ! Girding my loins as I have to go into town and it's Market day and Saturday and afternoon so all the low life will have emerged from their pits ! oh well. All well and happy in New York Bavaria and Salisbury ! Looks as if it is in Coleorton too ! Xx
ReplyDeleteHeaven have just opened in the most spectacular fashion here so have decided town is not an option !
ReplyDeleteWe had a miserable morning, too, I got soaked seeing to the ducks this morning. Our heavens are thick with clouds still, although the rain has stopped and the sun peeps out now and again. John's taken advantage of the break and is doing some more painting outside.
ReplyDeleteYou might as well cuddle up with Ollie and a DVD and leave the low life to their own devices in Salisbury - taking DVD, no, boxed tape in this instance. Really fancied watching "Amelie" again last night, but the tape had gone mouldy ...
Thoroughly indulged myself over the last two days watching the box set of Downton Abbey. I missed the start of it when it was shown so didn't want to start half way through. I'm glad I waited it was wonderful and the costumes setting and some of the girls achingly beautiful ! Now I know why Robert Timmins had to work away from Larkrise... He'd actually become a valet !were you a fan.? Picking Col and El up from Heathrow lunchtime tomorrow x
ReplyDeleteWe most certainly were fans! Such a surprise for ITV, I expect that kind of excellence from the BBC. As you said, all of it was beautiful, the writing [Julian Fellowes at his best], the costumes, the setting, the choice of actors [we knew most of them from other roles] ......... can't wait for the next instalment some time later this year, I believe.
