post 2 days with P&G

My wonderful gardening friends Pat and Graham came Wednesday a week ago and today.  While Graham mowed and strimmed wherever he could Pat cleared patches of overgrown garden to let the light in.  Together they sawed off two huge branches of one of my Bramley apple trees which were almost lying on the floor with the weight of the apples - it's been a fabulous year for all apples. They've been going home with big trugs full of apples, and today we also picked lots and lots of blackberries to go with the apples.  It's a shame that all that rain we've been having has turned many blackberries mouldy.

Last Thursday I took a number of random photographs of the garden as well as of the "pruned" apple tree, and today I got just a few photos of Pat and Graham in action.

One day last week I'd run out of wheat grains and couldn't add any to their breakfast.  They must have felt hungry, because, when I came out of the house at 11 they came running up to me as if expecting food.... so I gave them half a melon to be getting on with while I went to the Country Store to buy more food and bedding!

This little robin seems to live in the area of the Bramley apple trees and Photinia, It landed at my feet and sat on my garden fork while I was pruning the Forsythia there, and today Pat said it kept her company in that area.

Fran, thank you for lovely cheerful emails recently, and
Gerd and Maria, have a great little holiday!
