The last time I wrote was Friday 18th when the rain came down every time I was ready to go out and mow the grass. I eventually started mowing the next day and had half the big field done when the ride-on crunched over a half buried log. In spite of the graunching noise nothing seemed amiss until I turned after another couple of cuts the length of the field, when I saw a piece of rubber shoot out from under the cutting mechanism.
I stopped the machine and called Carl for advice. To cut a long story short, Carl came on Sunday morning to investigate the problem and eventually pulled out that long piece of shredded cutting belt you see in the photo left - the small piece is what shot out from underneath as I turned the corner. Also in the photo is a gift Carl had brought from America, a big bar of chocolate with SERIOUS cocoa content, 99%! Carl then got my music going again which I'd been without for weeks and found the best-priced cutting belt for me to order [it arrived last Thursday; I failed to fit it so far but Graham and Pat will sort it tomorrow].
Pat and Graham came last Wednesday afternoon and got stuck into clearing the conservatory at the back of the garage which had been overcrowded with gardening equipment, and Pat investigated what had become of the shrivelled, left-over potatoes I had planted in the smaller raised bed earlier in the year...
... and dug up this little lot for me, the two big ones missing from the gap I had as jacket potatoes!
On Saturday, after I'd started taking down the old greenhouse, I had my lunch in here and celebrated with a Pimm's!
Other news:
It was Pat's birthday last Thursday and Sarah turned 18 on Saturday.
Both our applications for funds to have the Heritage book printed were granted, and the 100 printed copies of the book - looking fabulous! - were delivered last Friday, we are now planning the great launch.
I'm still producing blanket squares for the Syrian refugees [Annie is right, I am addicted!].
There should have been an eclipse of the moon to be seen in the early hours of today with the moon looking red ...... I didn't wake up in time, but I did see it like this around 5:
Now I am looking forward to Gerd and Maria visiting this coming Wednesday, hurrah!
