A dry and sunny day in the middle of constant wet ...

... we had yesterday, Thursday 24th, but since early this morning the rain has been coming down in sheets again.  I'll put in some sunny photos from yesterday then:

The laurel by the sun lounge door wants to flower - this late in the year!

Similarly the "Shoo-Fly" [Nicandra Physalodes] and the olive trees in front of the house.

The ducky crowd had collected near the house for a change ...

... except for two I found 'hiding' near the big pond, Honey and Purdy,

and Dotty who was making lots of noise because she was on her own.

I'm really pleased that the 3 dahlias I planted late on in the year are making such a nice show now.

When I returned from my little walk about the garden most of the ducks had congregated near and in the frog pond,

and when John examined the tit nesting box it showed amazing carpentry skills by those little birds.  The floor had been dug out into grooves with a hole in the middle and the back wall had been pecked too [I've circled the place in the photo on the left] - no wonder nothing was hatched in there!
