Is it ever going to stop raining?

This week's weather forecast promised us no change in the wet, it's a quagmire everywhere.  The ducklings seem to like it, look how big they are already:

I took these photos yesterday, Monday 2.7., in spite of the foul weather.  When I went to clean out their hut the little ones were all asleep "under guard", but it wasn't long before they were on the move again.

The 13 duck shed residents are all fine, the only one with a limp is Mocca - but it doesn't seem to handicap her much at all, she keeps well in with the others.

After removing Gertie's 5 eggs from her nest in the corner I've found 1 in there again the next day, but after that there was 1 egg in Billie-Jean's nest box every day [I've always taken it out] - I do suspect it was Gertie's egg each time and Billie pinches it!  The last 2 eggs we removed from the box and put in the incubator when we rescued the 10th duckling have not brought anything, in fact one of them exploded in the incubator yesterday!  John got rid of both and disinfected the machine.

My windmill cake got a rapturous reception in Swannington Village Hall on Sunday, they raffled it and it raised £60.  The cake is the one in the picture on the left .............. in case you can't tell the difference, tee hee -

  2. I was lucky getting that shot of the yellow duckling just coming out of the pond, I love it, too.

Got the Anchor Lane people on the phone this morning; they took our little outcast to their friends with the ducklings, but those were so much bigger that they took the baby back home with them and it's doing well. Janet has bought it a fluffy duckling for company! Well, they did a good job bringing up Anke and Lane [a broody chicken hatched those two eggs] so they should do well with this little one.
