Yesterday late morning there was never-ending noise coming from the enclosure, it was so loud and persistent that I went to investigate before the neighbours complained. It turned out to be Beyoncé making the racket, not Bless as I'd thought, shouting to the boys. And because I had intended to let these two out to the drakes before fetching the new ducks today anyway, I thought I might as well release them one day early, they seemed keen to get out. I was still going to leave Joseph on guard with the two brooding ducks, but he went out with the two B's all at once, so that was that.
Well, it was SHOCK & AWE for a while as you might imagine, the four drakes pounced on the two ducks like demented maniacs, but it was Joseph who came in for the worst stick, retribution for his privileged position of being with the girls for 2½ weeks I suppose. The situation soon calmed down, however, and the group of seven now have been going around everywhere together [with loud squawking from the 2 girls now and again when they were being "got"] and Anke and Candy didn't have to suffer any raids.
The intention tonight is to add the new girls once the 7 have been put into the shed for the night, I'll report tomorrow! Now some pictures of 5 drakes and 2 ducks from yesterday and today:
