
14 of them could be seen a lot near the house this morning, leaving Hedda [arrow] behind on the big pond. When I went down there a bit later to do the first weeding of 2012 Hedda was curled up on the edge of the pond,

and when I put fresh bedding into the hut which John had cleaned out earlier I could see why the rest of them had been near the house so much - the cover had fallen over their food!


They all seemed to be finding lots to eat in the soil, only running to the frog pond now and again to drink.

The mating season seems to have started, in picture above Tuts is raping Candida, 6 other boys are standing by [but left her alone, thankfully], and Anke and Lane bottom left of this photo are totally inconcerned!
We had this beautiful double hellebore given to us by friends Paul and Brenda, I think it's gorgeous.
