It was a beautiful day yesterday, sunshine wall to wall, not cold, and we really enjoyed our drive to Moreton Morell where the BWA [British Waterfowl Association] Show was taking place as well as the AGM of our IRDA [Indian Runner Duck Association]. We drove along the Fosse, the old Roman road; the autumn tints in hedges and trees were just beautiful.
Today .............. a total reversal in the weather. The whole day was dark and dank with misty rain, not even the ducks fancied going on their excursions through the garden.
But I had an email from friend Heike which really gave me a laugh, and I have her permission to share her little tale with you. Have a look at this, doesn't she write well!
Our ducks are full of beans at the moment, they dive and bathe like crazy and hardly come out of the water ...... unless ..... there's shell pasta on offer.
I had such a laugh the other day. We received a parcel from Hermes-Postal Deliveries. The delivery man - a young man in Jesus-mould - long hair, beard ... just as you'd imagine Jesus, stood in front of the door with the parcel under his arm, and behind him stood our little feathered mob making a huge racket ....... he kept looking back rather nervously, until I explained to him that our ducks think that, whenever somebody enters our garden with something in their hands, that something might just contain noodles .... so the carrier gets mobbed .... at which Jesus laughed mightily relieved ... especially as he'd taken notice of the sign on the door: "Watch out, fighting ducks, please shut the gate" and had had to gather all his courage before entering our ground. I knew .... Jesus is brave *laugh*
Very funny !
