Hedda's x-rays

Hedda's lying on her back, so her affected right leg is seen on the left in this photo.  The sad news from the vets is that the bones which are out of alignment cannot be set now as cartilage has grown around them.  An operation to remove the cartilage can be done in humans, and has been tried once or twice in large dogs - but it's thought to be too risky in smaller animals - and ducks.  So Hedda will limp as long as she lives, we left it too late.  But we give her Metacam and Glucosamine to ease her condition, we can make her "comfortable" as the vet said.
