Gerd and Maria visit

On the hottest last September day since 1895 they arrived yesterday afternoon for their all-too-brief annual visit, laden as usual with far too many early birthday gifts for me.

I took a few photos of our late afternoon walk to see the ducks.

My newly planted cyclamen near the duck shed.

The blue arrows point to 2 of the 'birthday plants' Gerd and Maria had sent me earlier, and in the little picture on the right they are standing in front of the 2 others.

Having arrived at the field they're watching the ducks going for their evening hunt for slugs and other delights.

Gertie - on the right - and Billie Jean are hanging back a little because they thought I'd brought them some goodies!

I'm starting on the fourth monster courgette this morning for their breakfast.  This last one I could hardly carry, it's about 65 cm long and I couldn't span the thickest part with both hands.  I think it'll make 6 breakfasts as opposed to the 3 of the first one!
