Sunday 10th July night, a very frustrating day

Isn't this a lovely picture?  I took it at lunchtime today just before putting them back into their shed [which they have accepted as their new home and seem very comfortable in] so we could eat lunch in peace.

The minis were outside three times today and I took lots of photos and videos.  The frustrating thing all day has been that, until now at 10 past 10 at night, I have been unable to get a connection to the internet for longer than a few seconds ................. I'll see what I can do now.

The steps and path around the new build were finished before Thursday lunchtime, we’re really pleased with them.

It’s a plain concrete path at the back, but natural stone and brick at side and front.

[I put the broken slab and the doormat there so I wouldn’t carry the dirt onto the nice new step!]

We didn’t go on the monthly walk with the Moira crowd – John still has problems with gout in his foot and I’m still feeding the ducklings every four hours or so – but we did go and have a meal with them in Packington at the Bull&Lion.

The shed for the little ones is not quite finished on the outside, but by Saturday early evening it was fit for habitation and we moved the ducklings in straight from their little run by the greenhouse, having first given them a very messy supper with yoghurt in it.

Early [before 7] this morning, Sunday 10th July, I was greeted with a lot of chirruping, and when I opened the door they were very keen to come out:

The ramp for them to come out on is not finished yet, we just put a plain board there for the moment ….. which worked like a slide for them and they slid right through the openings of the fence I’d put up!  As easily as they’d slipped out they also came back in again, and as I was sitting there watching over them I could stop all other attempts at breaking out, and when we let them out for a second time after their morning sleep they didn’t try any more, they accepted the limit of the fence.

Having them out of the sun lounge certainly makes life a lot easier for me, no more wiping the floor several times a day and no more dozen or so poo-peppered towels to wash.  The last few days it had been difficult for us to even go into the sun lounge, as soon as they heard any noises in the kitchen all 10 would gather the other side of the door, and not only did you have to be careful not to step on them, but also to avoid stepping on all those droppings.

I had a wonderful time watching these little ones the three times they were outside today, they're different sizes, have different habits, and are a great joy!  The could splash their meals about, jump into their saucer bath, and chase and even catch flies to their hearts' content.  I'll put in a bundle of photos now.

In the picture below, I find that little one at the very top right hilarious  -  looks just like a little toddler, I think.
