how quickly they've grown ...

Took a few photos this morning, Thursday 21st, even though it's been a very dull and drizzly start.

It struck me how tall they are when they stand up now and I inserted pictures of two of them from their first couple of days for comparison:

The little chap in the middle was Sarah's darling, now the tallest, and the one on the right is the first one Annie painted ..... which reminds me that I've not yet posted another one of Annie's duckling paintings which moved me to tears, it was of the one with the stripey feet that died.

This picture is another one from Friday 15th which I forgot to put in here.  Not only have I been doing weeding all around this little duck run while keeping an eye on the little ones - as Annie predicted I would - but I also did a pile of ironing outside!  Look how little the bunch of 10 seem [left of the green bin] while lying down, this morning I thought the same....

......and then they stand up:

By the way, Annie, your "pretty little chap"[fourth from the right] is now the smallest in the group, who'd have thought it!

A little while ago I listed lots of different foods I'd offered them and which they enjoyed.  I now want to write up all the things they ate on Monday when they just didn't want to stop eating:

3 Weetabix
yoghurt
5 tbsps of mixed, ground up grains
half a cucumber
2 tomatoes
1 tin of peas/carrots
5 tbsps of mixed, ground up grains
3 large, boiled potatoes with a little chopped, raw mince
a wedge of melon
1 banana [at 8 pm!]
...... and all day long a constant supply of chick crumbs and water.

  2. I'd be delighted if Shortarse was a girl - can't see it on those photos, but still VERY pretty!
