Wednesday evening

It was a lovely day today, gorgeous sunshine, and of course I had a quick walkabout round the garden with the camera.  I was really struck with how late everything is because of the harsh winter.  The Damson blossom, for instance, used to be out in February [I remember one year covering it up with fleece and getting a load of snow dumped on it], but the buds have not burst yet this year:

Similarly the camellias.  The white one used to bloom in January and the pink one early March at the latest. Both of them look pretty sickly [I must get some fertilizer for them!].

The two Pieris underneath the camellias are doing well though:

We had two extra workmen today - we knew them already, they're two of the team who installed our bathroom.  Today they started with the installation of the solar panels:

On Monday, first day of Spring, the breakthrough from the new part of the house to the old was made.

We don't have a door there yet, but it's very easy for me now to walk through and take photos.  From the window opposite the door frame I get a good view of the 2 ponds below:

The frogs were being very active in the corner top left, in this second picture you can see them a little closer:
Unfortunately our frog-hunter Primmie knows where they are ..... and she brought her mate Blob with her:

I quite forgot to mention that our spiral staircase was delivered on Tuesday, in a big red van on the road and wheeled down the drive on a pallet.  Our workmen only started this morning building it up, and tonight the wooden handrail has not been put on yet, but I'm already delighted with my choice of staircase,
I think it looks great.

When I was going through the garden taking photos the ducks were out in the field foraging for tiny creatures they love eating;  you can hardly see the ducks in this picture:

I had to laugh when Braith and Morf suddenly turned up on the right, outside of the enclosure -- but they found their way back.

Shortly before ducky bedtime I got some better photos, though:

PS on Thursday morning:  pleased to report that my nose has stopped running this morning and the throat only feels a little thisk now, HALLELUJAH!
