I thought you might be interested to see how the "island" with a bit of heather on it looks now, after my bit of gardening on it:
The strong winds of the last two days has dried out the muddy soil quite well, but it was very difficult working there yesterday - I had a job to keep my hat on!
Yet again, the wind has thrown over the two Christmas trees from 2009 and 2010 behind the house. The little one has been planted there for a year, but the roots don't seem to be holding it down.
The large one from last Christmas is standing there on the loose - I thought it would be protected from the winds while standing behind the lilac tree....
A short time ago, when I went outside to take a couple of photos of the 'heather island', I could see two waterhens on the pond making their escape - they always spot me first wherever I turn up in the garden. I thought yesterday that the ducks were showing very great interest in the reed island on the pond - is it possible that the waterhens are already thinking about nest building? In this photo it looks as if the ducks are saying to each other "Where did they go? Did you see them?"
I did post a comment yesterday but it seems to have been swallowed ! I love the top picture , very " Homes and Gardens " !!!!
ReplyDeleteI also asked if you had really been up posting at 5am ??!!
