There were about 12 bags in all which I put, two at a time, in the steel cart and drove to the top of the big field where I normally burn it. When I tried to set off with the last two the mower wouldn't start, I think it was because I'd switched off the engine when the blades were still down - I did a bit of mowing on the way back every time.
So I left the mower to get over its strop and put up my two house signs again at the top of the drive, so many delivery men had had trouble finding me. One was the new sign Graham had made for me which I put on the stand the vandals had ripped out, the other, the old one from friend Peanah, I tied to the big holly tree trunk. It's all a bit Heath Robinson but I hope they hold up!
The mower sprang in to life again after that, I had a little drive around the new plantation near where my new neighbour has employed tree surgeons clearing the site which was grossly overgrown. Then I did a bit more mowing near the house [it's terribly wet everywhere], put the dry food out for the ducks, refreshed their bedding, and got back into the house just before 3 - and just before the heavens opened again, how lucky was that - to have a late lunch.
From the sun lounge I could see the "twins" at the back of the frog pond, so I went upstairs and took a few photos through and from the windows. The duck bedding was burning well!
