It gets dark well before 7 these days, and when I went to shut the hatch to the ducks' hut tonight [they've been going in by themselves lately] it was a shock to see Dotty lying dead. She had been sunning herself on the far side of the pond when I brought the food out at 3 this afternoon. Where she was lying is just where she got out of the pond - I suppose this time the effort was too much for her, her outstretched left leg is the one that healed badly after a break, it looks as if she slipped in the mud. I shall bury her in the morning next to the two fox victims April and Cheryl.
I have a few more cheerful pictures to show you from Monday:
I've been doing lots of gardening today, and tried again to rake a third of the waterlilies off the fish pond - I couldn't lift it, it's one whole mass, and I shall have to cut them out bit by bit.
