life after fox attack

Wednesday 20.5. morning was the last time I sighted a fox and was able to chase it away before it did any more damage, but on Thursday early morning I saw this in front of the sun lounge door step.  Now, a cat would have buried its "doings", wouldn't it.  I've seen similar droppings near the duck run, too, so I'm still being very cautious, only letting the ducks out when I'm in the garden.

It's usually just the two drakes and 4 of the ducks that come out of the run, Gertie and Dotty stay behind.

My wonderful friends Pat and Graham were here all Wednesday and did an incredible amount of work in the garden, shifting rubbish, getting old fencing moved into the donkey shelter ready for a monster bonfire in the autumn, Graham did ALL the mowing, and Pat planted up the tomatoes and cucumbers they had grown for me.

Ben is a lot happier now he's with the others.  He gets put in his place by Jay, but there's no actual fighting.  I'm hoping his humpty back will soon disappear, he eats and preens himself very well.

My medlar has burst into flower

This afternoon I was working at the back of the duck run, trying to make access for foxes more difficult with extra mesh fencing.  So I opened the back gate and soon they trouped out and only Gertie and Dotty were left in the run as normal.

When the six returned from their outing to the leaky big pond they splashed in the little pond, preened themselves extensively and then went to have a siesta behind the hut.
