To all you lovely people who read these White Gables/Duck Diaries
and encourage me to carry on writing them as a nice means of staying in touch!
Did a bravura performance this morning rescuing white Daisy from the boys. Annie and El will remember from their recent visit [thank you again for making the journey and the lovely time spent with you!] that I worried about her. While filling the last few buckets with fresh water I had twice already chased three drakes off her with the hosepipe, and when they piled on top of her for a third time I gave serious chase. Annie, you would have been impressed with my turn of speed and the final lunge to grab Daisy and carry her into the girls' enclosure! I was somewhat horrified to see a bare patch on the back of her head - along with a limp a sign that she needs a respite from the boys. So I kept her under my arm until I'd let the 6 ducks out of Dotty's hut and then shoved Daisy in there for a rest. I've seen her walking about in the enclosure since, she's fine.
Thursday was a dull and very cold day, I didn't finish weeding the big diamond-shaped bed near the garage. Yesterday being a sunny day again I finished that bed and had company from Dash - I thought - until she turned around and I could see it was Vera, doesn't she look pretty?
Having got the camera to hand I took just four more pictures to wish you all a very happy time over Easter:
