Our Christmas was just lovely, we missed seeing Annie and family but the others came around. We had a big Christmas dinner at John's daughter Elizabeth's and a hot and cold buffet at our's as Carl and family hadn't had a hot dinner yet, having been busy visiting friends. We had a lovely time playing games after our second dinner, and the little penguin racers our of our crackers from Lakeland were the stars of the show:
They were really fast, their little flippers going like crazy. When they bumped into each other they formed a little huddle of 3, 5 or more circling round and round, it looked as if they were chatting to each other, they were hilarious!
My home-baked pork pie turned out well again, and I was really pleased with my first effort of making cup cakes that looked like platform-soled shoes [ice cream wafers and cornets for soles and heels]:
One of our hand-delivered Christmas cards was addressed to:"Our neighbours with the ducks" in pretty silver writing. It came from Suzanne and Colin a few houses up the road, who can only see the ducks when they go into the field, and they said they'd love to be introduced to them. So, of course, we invited them and they came around this morning:
Dotty has not ventured out again since my last blog on 19th December, although the gates were open to her. She'll come again when she feels strong enough.
Peter and Jeanette's cockerel and hen still come to visit every day, sorry, Annie, I don't have any better photos yet:
I got some sad news tonight. Our friends Michael and Peaneh had to have their drake Gustav put to sleep. He was nearly 14 years old, and his legs were failing him more and more until he couldn't even stand and had to be carried in at night time and out in the morning.
Here he is in better days, nearest the camera, with four of his girls. He'll never be forgotten.
