... has come, another week gone, and only a few photos taken throughout the week. I'll start with a spectacular sunset taken either Monday or Tuesday evening:
Above my failed attempts at capturing the excited exit from the duck shed on Tuesday morning and Honey's taking off to fly to the big pond, in the middle picture she's in front dipping into the bowl. I'm not sure that's her in front of the white Daisy above right, it could be Caramel who looks very similar [wobbly and dark photo].
John had to go out on Tuesday morning, and while he was out he was going to buy our Christmas tree at a favourite garden centre of ours. But I had my heart set on digging out this one, growing in a very restricted space under the tall pine - I've put an arrow to point it out. As John wasn't keen to do the digging I had a go myself while he was away and managed to get it out, put it into a bucket, and manoeuvre it into our living room.
You've guessed it, it was too tall for our ceiling [it was quite little and crooked when I bought it for my last Christmas alone in Desford in 1996] and I had to cut off the growing tip by a foot and a bit - it was either that or drill a hole into the ceiling, which I really didn't dare do! By the time John returned home I'd started decorating it and he didn't like telling me to take it out again ...

Two days ago John finished digging and tidying the "wildflower bed", he did it in stages as it was such a tough job. I'll try and make sure the twitch grass doesn't take over again in the Spring!
The ducks were having a jolly time in the big pond
and Honey came for food
from her hidey hole in the enclosure:
There are three "hidey holes" under the lonicera and euonymous in the enclosure, well used by most of the ducks and drakes - I usually see Honey on the far side of this one pictured left.
All the time I was in the area of the big pond I could see that Jay-Z and Daisy were sitting separately at the edge - could it be that black and white have formed a partnership? Would be sort of appropriate for Nelson Mandela's legacy...
I had to take a photo of Dotty on my way back, didn't I, so that she wouldn't feel left out, and of the wreath on the door which this year has a kind of playful note with teddies and ducks:
