Alina's short visit

We have almost no photos of Alina's visit, the three I took of her sitting in front of the fire doing her homework appear to have vanished after we transferred them to her laptop - I've spent a good hour this morning searching files and sticks without success.

So I only have these two snaps that daughter Julie took with her iphone or ipad when Alina had a ride on Julie's horse Jaygen.

That was the highlight of her visit for her, she misses her horse Freddie in Germany.

Alina was a delight to have around, for seventeen she seems very mature and self-assured, and her English is excellent.  I worried a bit because she didn't eat very much apart from fruit [we could do with her here now as the storms have brought loads more apples down], but she did enjoy the Sunday roast and apple Tarte Tatin. She certainly knows her own mind about what and how much she wants to eat, John gleefully recalls her words "I mean what I say" after I pressed her to eat something and she had already refused twice ...

PS: found these two:

Because these riding pictures are so fuzzy I thought I'd put in some better ones of nephew Thomas' family:

                                                                Thomas with his twin girls.

We've had horrible weather all week, almost non-stop rain, except for today.  For our walk with the Moira Group the weather was glorious [the ONLY day this week, the weather forecasters say].

Honey still takes off and flies to the big pond every morning to get there fast.  I've not seen her fly back at night though  -  maybe she can't fly uphill?????:-)
