Fathers' Day

Wishing those of you who still have their fathers with them and appreciate them a very happy Fathers' Day!

Our weather is still very mixed, "heiter bis wolkig" would be the German term for it, i.e. cloudy with bits of sunshine thrown in and the odd shower - although the showers have been absent today.  The garden has exploded into more blossom and flowers, and because my brother Gerd says I can't put in too many photos I'll put in a lot!

A strange cat on the roof of the duck shed, not Lucy from next door,

and the top lot of ducks and drakes gathered in shade and sunshine waiting for their daily ration of grains.

The big red poppies were first showing next to the fallen ash, now more and more of them are opening in the wild flower patch .............

..... which I've started to weed and in the process uncovered a Hosta and a Lavender I'd forgotten about:

Lots of strawberries are forming, soon we'll have to cover them with netting.

The hay meadow is growing nicely,

and Anke seems to have given up escaping - maybe it's the moult slowing her down?

It's a week and two days now since Dotty's operation.  She keeps quiet under the towel in the dark, but as soon as we come close to refresh her food or bedding she rears up and hisses at us ready for a fight.

The area around her eyes looks a little dry, but I do dunk her head to wash her eyes every time I change her water.  When 2 weeks are up I'll put her into the large tin bath to start exercising her left leg, which I'm pleased to say feels a little stronger now.

Can you spot Honey in the centre of this picture?
