SUNday!

Isn't it wonderful how sunshine puts a gloss on everything?  Late afternoon I went walkabout with the camera, refreshed the huts and then took photos.

The youngsters were having a rest when I came:

But I'd come prepared with bribes [rice and slices of cucumber] and very quickly there was a free-for-all:

These two above and below hatched as numbers 7 and 8, although I'm fairly sure the one standing up above used to be nearly all yellow in colour.

The big pale youngster standing middle front of this photo is one of the first two hatched on 11.6., called Jubilee as my American friend Pam suggested.  The other one hatched on the 11th is this big brown one below right, and I think I'll call that one Velvet.  Both are almost as big as Billie and Gertie and will be 7 weeks old tomorrow.

Look who I found by the vegetable patch when I went to the big pond to open the food container for Captain and his two:

Anke, Captain and Candida on their way to the field.

I love this one of Candy, she hardly ever poses for pictures.

At the edge of the "wildflower patch" I was delighted to see the Veronicastrum in full bloom as well as the Crocosmia "Lucifer",

and on the way back I took a quick snap of my favourite rose "Elfe" [present from Michael&Pine] watched over by one little duck.

A blackbird was having a vigorous bath, and all 13 had arrived back on their home patch in expectation of the lid being taken off their food container:
