Our habit of leaving food out all day for all three groups of ducks has resulted in our feeding no end of pheasants, pigeons, jackdaws [I counted 30 yesterday morning!] and other wild birds. So yesterday morning we started again trying to get the two grown-up groups, at least, used to being fed just morning and night. Come mid afternoon I felt so sorry for our pretty wet looking bunch of 13 that I threw them a few handfuls of rice on the terrace - by the time I'd gone upstairs to take photos the rice was nearly all gone, they picked up every grain!
I'll put in all 6 photos I took of the rice picking. [I also took one of the little growing ones from the window but made a mess of that.]
That's Mocca holding her left foot up, that's how she walks with her "bumble foot"
Wasn't it fortunate that the walk from Coleorton Wood [as part of the Festival of Archaeology] took place on Sunday, our ONE almost rain-free day in ages.
