After opening the fence late Tuesday afternoon to let the 10 young ones have a run outside their little enclosure for an hour before bedtime they immediately took advantage of this and hotfooted it down to the big pond. When I went down with extra food and straw for the hut [so they would be cosy overnight in the cold] I could see there was mayhem going on, the young drakes chasing the 4 girls down there and two on top of one of them ... so I drove the 10 back to the top and shut them in again.
I didn't think of letting them out again yesterday - we were on luncheon duty and away most of the day - so the 5 at the bottom had a peaceful time and the 10 stopped in their enclosure and made a mess of it:
This is the view from our kitchen window at present - but we may get more snow tomorrow, brrrrrrrrr
