Our Thursday Walk with the Moira Group ...

... was on Beacon Hill this morning.  I LOVE Beacon Hill, the rock formations, the trees, the plantation of native trees, the VIEWS!  And they have a pig farm up there now and magnificent Longhorn cattle.

The forecast rain kept off, the sun kept shining, but the wind was extremely fierce and chilly.  No matter, it was a grand walk!

[Can somebody tell me what this could be?  It surely can't be a callous
on a young tree like that, some kind of wasp's nest maybe??]

When we got home after our meal at the Copt Oak we were surprised to find our 10 young ones still in the frog pond.  Usually they go and join the other 5 some time in the morning and stay at the big pond until it's bedtime.  I did see them all come out once when I took these photos and immediately go back in again  -  maybe the wind is too fierce for them?

  2. Yes, interesting. If you mean that last one [our erstwhile green goddess] I was sure it came from one of "our" eggs - I can only blame Fanny, but considering all runners etc started off from mallards the genes have come through. Lovely emerald green, though ....
