...... in thinking that our big girl B[l]ess - the one I nearly killed by dropping a clamp on her - was No. 11 out of the eggs, it was our little Stripey Feet, the one that did die after everyone and everything in the box landed on her. I've been looking at early photos and videos, and they confirm this.
These are all nine on Monday, 20th June.
Top row from water pot left to right: HJ, Tut, Joseph, Praline/Beyoncé.
Bottom row from left to right: Ben, Jay-Z, little Georgie just peeping out, B[l]ess, Billie-Jean.

Gertie was No. 10 to hatch, here she is asleep, bottom right.
And here is the last one to hatch, Stripey Feet, just out of the incubator bottom right; on her left is little Gertie. Now I've got things clear in my mind I can see that grown-up Gertie's white back markings [see group picture below] were already there on her first day.

What still amazes me is how little Joseph, the only one with a green beak on the right of this photo, developed all those colours after looking as if he was going to be all white. He came out of one of 'our' eggs, and the only two ducks with green beaks we had were these, Anabelle and Fanny.
Both were "rescued" ducks; heaven knows what was swimming in their gene pool!
