First outing without being lured out!

According to the weather forecasters yesterday, Tuesday, was to be the best day of the week with sunshine and no rain.  We certainly found this to be true, and this morning it felt very cold outside with intermittent showers and strong winds.

But yesterday was lovely, we had charming visitors, Trish and her two granddaughters Emily and Annie:
The little girls had brought peas for the ducklings, and after initial shyness on both sides the ducks feasted on the peas - and some cucumber .....

In the afternoon John finished the new step to the frog pond and I managed to plant up the first 4 squares on the terrace with thyme:

Then we sat on the doorstep with a well-earned cup of tea and biscuits ...... when we saw our troupe of ducklings coming out of the enclosure - we'd left it open after wheelbarrowing loads of pebbles out of there.  Thus began their first little adventure "away from home ground":

They didn't dare go any further than this, didn't get as far as the frog pond.  They stood up and headed back, but didn't know which way to get into their enclosure again  -  we had to guide them in the end.
