2nd day in frog pond
Didn't take many photos yesterday - too busy in the garden. But as soon as I opened the little fence they came out paddling right across our new terrace dropping poops as they went [I guided them round it in the afternoon!], and then jumped/tumbled/fell down the concrete steps into the water. Immediately followed an absolute feast of splashing and diving from one end of the pond to the other - I was so annoyed as I'd forgotten the camera. Same thing happened after lunch, still no camera, but I promise I'll take a video of the spectacle!
The photos I took were of them sleeping, like corks bobbing on the water - and HeddaJedda cuddled up with George!
Just seen your you tube videos ! They reall do love that pond. Anyone who says you dont need water for runner ducks should watch that ! It was like watching children at the pool especially the underwater lengths. Love the way they all go crazy when someone goes under ... Perhaps incase they have got a goody ?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture of hj !
ReplyDeleteI love that picture, too. I was lucky there was not too much light/sun, so you can see some features on HJ instead of just a white blob.
ReplyDeleteThe diving frenzy makes me gasp every time, it seems to be infectious as soon as one starts. I don't think they're looking for goodies on those occasions, that's just a bottoms up job; I reckon it's sheer joie de vivre - they go even crazier when the ponds have been freshly filled!
I woke up worrying about fox protection for the "little - uns" what are you doing ??
