Wednesday morning, 13.7.11

There's not just one waterhen chick down on the big pond, I saw four of them this morning!  They're still very little, must have hatched recently on our "island".  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed now that they won't fall victim to the cats.

The blue "swimming pool" I sank into the ground for the ducklings yesterday is proving to be a huge hit.  There's a large stone at all four corners to ease their exit.  "Little Blob" was the first one in this morning, and when it realized that it could actually swim, it went crazy in it and then shot out for a fast run.  The black No.9 even managed to dive in it a couple of times.  It's great fun watching!

A few pictures from this morning:

Chickweed is a great favourite now next to cucumber.

It's rather cool and windy this morning, a watery sun only showed itself rarely.  That's why the 10 are back in their shed,

but with the door open so that they can look out, and a net in front to protect them from any large birds.
