Some of them are standing to attention because of all the strange noises they could hear outside, and they all stood up straight when John arrived in the car!
I'm sure our green-beaked one at the very top is a meerkat in disguise, what do you think, Annie?
Yesterday late afternoon was pleasant and warm and the ducklings had another half hour in the sun.

This morning I thought the wind was a bit chilly for the little ones, so I let them loose in the sunlounge:
Our first brood from 2005 had always been very keen to dive into the water, it was a job to get them out again. These are three photos from that time:
So I played a little trick on our slightly water shy ducklings from this year so that they would put their little heads under water to wash, I scattered some little noodles at the bottom! The trick worked, they 'fished' with enthusiasm:
After a little time they decided they had enough and went to the towel under the lamp [their two boxes were outside, drying], all by themselves.

Something else from this morning, Friday 1st. The little hedgehog [entry from Sunday 26th June] was back in front of the garage, John spotted it. I did a little video of it walking about, but videos in this blog haven't been very successful, so here are just two pictures:
What a gorgeous set of pictures. I have finally started doing some sketches of them but was very surprised to find that green-beak the meerkat didn't feature in any good pictures. Pretty boy, mini hedda, the black and yellow very upright one and a small cute yellow one seem to have posed repeatedly. The latter surprised me because I couldn't pick it out in the group in life..... If you look at my pictures its the one nest to the cane table leg..... Can't believe it's only a week ago wee were there ..... X
