PS on Sunday 12th:
Something I forgot to mention yesterday which really tickled me.  When I was still weeding in the vegetable beds in the early afternoon I suddenly heard quack, quack quacking from the big pond.  When I went to investigate what the trouble was I could see Captain, Candida, Anke and Lane standing bolt upright close to the hut, all looking in the same direction, at the hut, really.  And then there was more quacking and Hedda peered out of the hut door!

I assumed she had gone into the hut to lay and she had ordered, Generalissimo-fashion, the other four to stay nearby and NOT to leave her alone ....
In case you're wondering, yes, I did find a white Hedda egg when I went down with the spaghetti later!

When I look out of the window in the new upstairs room, like I did tonight, I can only see our 5 ducks in the far distance.  Even with the good camera I inherited from Carl I can't get a clear close-up:

So I made a quick decision to go down to the pond, 'armed' with spaghetti, to take a few photos  from close to the ducks:

It was really good to see that Anke and Lane now take part in the spaghetti feast, until yesterday they'd "turned up their beaks" at them.

The summer moult has started, loads of feathers can be seen everywhere and Captain in particular looks very ragged - can't quite see that in the photos, unfortunately.

Going back to the house I took some photos of the pink peonies I'm crazy about - such a shame I only ever get three blooms on this small shrub:
