Easter Sunday

My friends Pine und Micha asked me recently if it wasn't dangerous for the ducks in the front garden, because there were no fences or gate to stop them going on the road.  Naw, I said, they do run up and down the drive and root around in the front garden, but they've never gone on the road ......................................................................

... until today!    It was late afternoon, and looking out of the windows I see no ducks, just the four on the big pond.  But then, through the last window onto the road, I see them across the road with their beaks in the grass edge of our neighbour opposite.  Having fetched the camera they were standing to attention at the kerb:

They must have taken fright when I opened the window and quickly came down the drive.  In the excitement I took some very dodgy photos:

I shall have to keep a much closer eye on the little tykes from now on.  It being a holiday there was practically no traffic on the road, but usually ....

In their defence I have to write that there are a couple of monsters swimming in their home pond - barley straw bundles because the frog pond has a layer of green on top - and they don't dare go in.  What's more, their usual hunting grounds around the big pond and into the field seem 'verboten' to them at present because of Captain's aggression.  So they had to extend their search for snails and other little creatures into pastures new!
I cooked them all some spaghetti to distract them, it worked.  But from tomorrow I shall have to WATCH OUT.

  2. Yep, I have no doubt about that! Been out in the garden lots yesterday and on Monday, and everytime the mob turned the corner towards the front I went and checked ..... so far so good. But I've had to chase them out of the fish pond again, and little Taffy has stood at the edge of it, all on her own, on two days now keen to go in - so it's not just Morf!
